ERP for electronics manufacturing and board assembly
Five hundred part numbers for one board
A board of average complexity draws on several hundred part numbers, many of them worth a matter of pennies and a handful of them deciding the lead time. The difficulty is not the value of the stock, it is that a single missing line holds up the whole build.
Obsolescence adds to this: a component declared end of life forces you to qualify an alternate, document the equivalence and run down existing stock without mixing versions. A spreadsheet of equivalences ages badly.
Lastly, components are delivered on reels in imposed quantities. What remains on a part-used reel is production data as much as stock data, and it is lost very quickly unless it is tracked reel by reel.
Moisture, electrostatics and acceptability
Moisture-sensitive packages carry an MSL level that limits their exposure time outside dry packaging. Exceeding that time invites delamination at reflow, a defect invisible to visual inspection that will surface at the customer.
Assembly acceptability falls under IPC-A-610 for boards and IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and wire harness, with classes that change according to the field of application. RoHS and REACH compliance is demonstrated at component level.
AVIA ERP follows the MSL counter reel by reel, refuses a kit whose component has exceeded its exposure, holds the qualified alternates and attaches the RoHS declaration to every part number.
What an electronics subcontractor expects from its ERP
Bills of material and qualified alternates
Multi-level BOMs running to several hundred lines, alternates qualified per part number, and a controlled switch between versions with no mixing.
The direct benefits for your industrial company
No more incomplete release
The kit completeness check stops the release before the shop floor, not at the placement station.
Obsolescence handled before the shortage
The alternate is qualified while stock remains, instead of being improvised under pressure.
Moisture defects eliminated
The MSL counter prevents the use of an over-exposed component, a defect that only shows after delivery.
Compliance reportable at board level
RoHS and REACH consolidate automatically from the component up to the delivered product.
